Developing Web-Based Applications through e-Prototyping

چکیده
“Traditional” prototyping is based on assumptions that are not – or only partially – valid for the development of Web-based applications. In this paper, the “traditional” approaches of prototyping are recalled, and the new conditions, difficulties and challenges of involving and communicating with the relevant actors as a way of gathering sound requirements in the context of Webprojects are examined. The paper presents a modified prototyping approach called e-prototyping. It includes frequent releases of software versions (based on short development cycles) as well as gathering feedback from users and other relevant actors in “productive mode”. The approach points at the need for offering various communication channels and systematically sorting out the stream of feedback to create sound requirements for evolutionary software process and release management.

SWoTSuite: A Toolkit for Prototyping End-to-End Semantic Web of Things Applications
In this demonstration, we present our Semantic W eb of Things (SWoT) prototyping toolkit called SWoTSuite. It is a set of tools supporting an easy and fast prototyping of end-to-end SWoT applications. SWoTSuite facilitates (i) automation of application development life-cycle, (ii) reducing the amount of time and effort required for developing WoT applications and (iii) an easy integration of se...
متن کاملThe informatics superhighway: prototyping on the World Wide Web.
We have experimented with developing a prototype Surgeon's Workstation which makes use of the World Wide Web client-server architecture. Although originally intended merely as a means for obtaining user feedback for use in designing a "real" system, the application has been adopted for use by our Department of Surgery. As they begin to use the application, they have suggested changes and we hav...
متن کاملFrom State to Structure: an XML Web Publishing Framework
We present the main features of a system designed to support the development and delivery of web applications through concepts for modularity, reuse and rapid prototyping. The system is based on an extended object-oriented database system that manages both application data and publishing information in terms of content, structure and presentation. The process of information delivery uses dynami...
متن کاملRevealing Web User Requirements through e-Prototyping
Web Engineering projects face problems when it comes to reveal the Web users’ requirements. This is due to the fact that users – the clients of a Web application – have difficulties to express their needs if there is no design artefact to communicate about. The paper presents a modified prototyping approach called e-Prototyping. It includes frequent releases of software versions (based on short...

-Carnegie Mellon University has developed a User-Centered Interdisciplinary Concurrent System Design Methodology (UICSM) that takes teams of electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, computer scientists, industrial designers, and human computer interaction students that work with an end-user to generate a complete prototype system during a four-month long course. The methodology is web-suppor...
